NHS City and Hackney performs well in Annual Health Check |
Date : - 15/10/2009 |
NHS City and Hackney is meeting all core standards for providing health services to the people of Hackney and the City according to the Care Quality Commission in their Annual Health Check for the year 2008/09 released today.
Jacqui Harvey, Interim Chief Executive said “It is very pleasing that NHS City and Hackney’s efforts to provide a world class health service to the local population are being recognised.”
“Some of our achievements that have contributed to this rating include meeting national cancer waiting times, being one of the top performers in providing Chlamydia screening to 18 to 24 year olds and significantly increasing the number of drug users who are in effective treatment and significant reductions in teenage pregnancy rates” she said
“NHS City and Hackney prides itself on its approach in tackling health inequalities. We have been focusing our attentions on mental health, children’s health, sexual health, communicable disease and maternity care. We foster healthy lifestyles, develop screening and preventative services; enable easy access to early intervention as well as treatment
services” she said
“Our Health and Wellbeing Profile - a joint strategic needs assessment with the City of London and the London Borough of Hackney - clearly defines the diversity of our population and how we will meet their needs” she said
“NHS City and Hackney recognises the importance of waiting times to the public and is continually improving access and maintaining one of the lowest waiting times in the country at The Homerton University Hospital.” she said
“Some of the hospitals we commission have not met waiting time targets, however, the experience of our patients in local hospitals has continued to improve, a fact also reflected in our local MORI poll where more people than ever indicated their satisfaction with local services.” she said
“On another pleasing note, NHS City and Hackney has been given a ‘good’ rating for Quality of Financial Management. This is an improvement from last year’s ‘fair’ rating and reflects our continued efforts in improving how public finances are managed at NHS City and Hackney.” she said
